I wonder if some of these problems stem from the use of video games. I know, you're thinking "What?," but if you think about it for a minute, heavy users of video games never see the reals results of their shootings.
On a video game, you kill somebody, moments later, they are back in action.

My empathy to the rape victims, shoot out, carnapping, kidnapping, and other crimes. But I still believe that some things happen because you're just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It doesn't matter if you have a gun or not. Either way, it will happen but in a different setting, different outcome. But come to think of it, in times it would be a disadvantage if you are carrying a gun because if you are, it is either you who will die or shot or you will shot the guy. Either way it is horrific (for me). I will live my whole life with the memory of a seeing a person die because of me. I am not saying it is bad to have a gun for self defense, all I'm saying is 'for me' a crime will still happen whether you have a gun or not.
